Transylvaniais a wide-spreaded table-land placed in the middle of Carpathians Range; it is reknowned for cultural tourism in its old, historical cities: Brasov, Sibiu, Sighisoara, Alba Iulia, Cluj Napoca and others. The place has west influences, specially german ones. Let me tell you something about these cultural attractions placed in almost city of the areal (the descriptions bellow embraces only a very small part of Transylvania historical places)

Transylvania has so many historical objects to be visited in so many towns that one can hardly put them on a single map: almost every town or village has a fortress, castle (Famous Bran, see in the pics), old church, peasant fortified church(ex Prejmer), cathedrals, monasteries and museums, some of them very well preserved, some of them ruins; beside the cultural tourism one can have health tourism in resorts like Sovata and Baile Homorod (placed at the border with East Carpathians), Ocna Sibiului (near Sibiu), Ocna Mures (at the border with West Carpathians), Ocna Dej in the north side of Transylvania. Bellow I have some pictures with other historical objects (there is only a small part of the whole); click on every town name to see them.

Here are the peasant fortified churches; they are old since 13-16-th century; the first, Biertan, belongs to UNESCO's world heritage;the second, Harman, is still under reconstruction; the third, Prejmer, the oldest of the three, (13 century), offers you an original medieval look - it has also an extraordinary local guide. They are called "fortified" because, in the times of war, they were used as home for villagers and as defence buildings against the enemies. In Transylvania are a lot of this type of churches, pity many of them are about to become ruins. Pictures next represent: 1 Biertan Church; 2 Harman Church; 3 Prejmer Church

Here are the fortresses; the first(also second picture), Sarmisegetuza, was build at the beginning of the first millenium by the conqueror roman emperor, Trayan; today are left only ruins which are digged out one by one by the archeologists; also that gate from pic 4 is from the ancient times; the other fortresses are more recent, from medieval era. Like those next, there are many others which are not mentioned here. Pictures next represent: 1 & 2 Ulpia Traiana Sarmisegetuza; 3 Fagaras Fortress now turned into a museum; 4 Alba Iulia gate, a gate which belonged to an ancient fortress from roman conquest times; 5 Tirgu Mures medieval fortress

Here are the castles and palaces; they were built between 14-16-th centuries; some of them kept even some furniture inside (ex Bran pic 1), some are ruins (ex Vintu de Jos pic 3). Bethlen belongs to "Cetatea de Balta" village (pic 5); Lazarea can be found near Gheorghieni (pic 2); pic 4 is a famous castle in Hunedoara (several movies were done inside, some of them were foreign movies, french for example)
